September 30: I Arrive in Switzerland

I left Sant Andreu de la Barca at 11 in the morning. Today’s journey felt a bit long. It was 9 hours of driving, during which you had to keep an eye on the tolls (between Catalonia and France they really charged me from every angle), the fuel (I had to fill up before leaving Spain because in France it was 30 cents per liter more expensive; and I also had to fill up before leaving France because in Switzerland they don’t accept euros), and the border controls. At the Swiss border there was no problem (I was worried because I wasn’t sure whether I could enter with just my ID card), but at the border between Spain and France

they held me for about fifteen minutes. The French police made me open the trunk and show them my papers… All in a very polite and pleasant manner.

Of the whole journey, what I liked most was crossing the Alps. The motorway runs between mountains and valleys full of trees, all truly beautiful.

Now I’m going to spend a day in Lausanne, visiting the city (home of the International Olympic Committee).
